It is (supposedly), the most depressing day of the year.
We’re going to assume it’s most probably because payday is still a dream away, it’s pretty cold, and January is the month that seems to last about a year.
Seriously… it does go on forever.

We promise you this weeks #MoreLoveMondays will banish those Blue Monday blues and leave you feeling as though you can take on the world! Or at least get out of bed with a smile on your face… we’ll take either one.
So, without further ado, let’s jump right in… before our tea gets cold.
Since the beginning of January we’ve discussed everything from love handles to loving yourself, but, the one thing we haven’t really touched upon is your mental health. Having a healthy mind is just as important as having a healthy body. So, we figured Blue Monday was the perfect opportunity to talk about it.
The thing is, your mental health covers a whole range of things, and sometimes, it can feel a little overwhelming. Learning to understand your emotions and your mindset is something we should all practice.
Evidence suggests there are five steps you can take to mental wellbeing, so, here are a few things you can do to ensure your mind stays as healthy as every other part of your body! We understand this is a process, so please remember, always be kind to yourself.
Connecting with people around you is incredibly important - and we don’t mean via social media! It’s time to put down the phone, turn off the T.V. and get out there. Meet family for dinner, see friends for lunch, or even volunteer - you could end up helping someone else.
Finding those people you connect with on a deeper level is truly irreplaceable.
We’re not just talking about the gym, promise.
Find a physical activity that actually interests you. Whether it’s swimming, running, hockey, yoga… there are so many things you can do that don’t mean spending hours in a gym! Being active does genuinely release good endorphins and boosts your self-esteem.
Bring on those chemical changes…
Learn Something New
We’re not asking you to head back to school - don’t panic!
But learning new skills is a fantastic way to keep yourself occupied during those times in which your mind may wander…
Always wanted to learn a language? Paint? Cook? Now is the time!
Being kind and giving back is something we should build into our everyday lives, but, exploring different avenues in which you can do this is also important.
Simply being grateful to those around you and taking an interest in your friends lives is a great place to start, but if you fancy taking it further, why not look into volunteering? You may find yourself doing something you truly love.
In turn, you may find yourself connecting with other people you wouldn’t necessarily have found.
Being Present In The Moment
Mindfulness is about being present in the moment. Taking note of the world around you, your emotions, feelings, and helps you better understand yourself.
You can practice mindfulness gradually. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the answer to all your problems, but it can help you change the way you feel about life and improve your mental wellbeing.
Becoming caught up in your own head can be damaging, and removes us from physically being present in every day life. Mindfulness can help bring us out of this place, and appreciate the things around us, and the place we are in.
Meditation and yoga is highly recommend when practicing.
